For everyone who didn't get this working: Make sure there are (obviously) no tabs or unnecessary new lines in $query. I spent almost the whole day figuring out why I didn't get any response until I finally realized my stupid mistake.

Thanks for these great examples though, it's hard to find a recent (and decent) tutorial about just the plain xmlrpc without large frameworks around it. Keep up the good work!
